Wickwhistle Labradors

Working

Although Ria is royally show bred, I do lots of gundog work with her - generally speaking, working drive is sometimes out of the comfort zone of a show bred dog but Ria has shown such an aptitude for working and always tries her best so over the months, gundog work has become our main passion although we are still striving for the ultimate dual purpose Labrador by showing her too.

We train regularly on our own and every few weeks go for 1-2-1 training with a gundog trainer so that we can get the best from our training.  Our ultimate aim was realised in Winter 2008/2009 when we picked up on our local shoot.  Our other aim is to compete in working tests during the Summer months.

Below are some of Ria's achievements to date - they are more personal milestones than anything else.  No matter what, Ria is everything I could want for a first dual purpose Labrador - she has the will to please, loves retrieving and hunting, gives 100% effort to whatever I ask of her whether that be in the show ring or the field - what more could I ask for?

August 2008 - Our first working test!!

Although we weren't in the cards we scored the 6th highest score in the field.  I'm immensely proud of my lovely Ria!

April - July 2008 - URC Puppy/Beginners Training

Ria and I complete our first official training course with the United Retriever Club.

3rd May 2008 - The Labrador Retriever Club Show Gundog Training Day
